Our closest to local big tournament is coming up soon. Victoria Open 2025 will be at PISE (Pacific Institute for Sports Excellence) at Camosun Interurban so super accessible, on Sunday June 8th.
Sooke Karate had a good time at the 6th annual Vancouver Island Karate Championships in Nanaimo last weekend (March 9th)
Registration is open for the 6th annual Vancouver Island Karate Championships! March 9th in Nanaimo (Dover Bay Secondary School). This year there will also be a visiting Japanese team entering providing some great international exposure!
For the winter holidays, we'll be closed Thursday December 26th, and Monday December 30th. All other days will be normal schedule. As always, follow the calendar to see the schedule any time.
Sooke Karate sent a small team to the Victoria Open Karate Championships this weekend - 3 competitors, 1 coach and 1 referee. We brought home a combined 6 medals - 1 gold, 1 silver and 4 bronze, despite going challenge mode for our students. Sensei Nick also achieved his Provincial Judge A certification.
Our favourite yearly tournament is coming up - the Victoria Open Karate Chamionships - on June 2nd in Victoria. Almost no drive, well organized and a great learning development experience for all. Athlete registration is limited 200/deadline May 21st 10pm.

For a small dojo and community, Sooke Karate had some nice results including 4 gold medals!
Sooke Shukokai student Aliyah went to the Vancouver Island Karate Championship in Nanaimo last weekend. Despite having her divisions merged with older/higher belts, she still came home with gold in both kata and kumite (sparring).
